Ethio-Organic Seed Action

KEEPING DIVERSITY ALIVE

Ethio-Organic Seed Action (EOSA) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization (NGO) that was established in 2002 with the primary objective of promoting the sustainable management and utilization of indigenous agro-biodiversity resources. With a focus on ensuring local seed security, EOSA was founded by a group of individuals passionate about the sustainable management of agro-biodiversity resources. Throughout its existence, EOSA has dedicated itself to implementing integrated agro-biodiversity and seed security programs across a wide range of agroecological and farming systems in Ethiopia.

Recognized for its outstanding contributions, EOSA proudly holds the prestigious Slow Food International Award. This accolade acknowledges EOSA's commendable efforts in recovering and safeguarding Ethiopian indigenous crop varieties through in situ conservation and enhancement. By prioritizing the preservation and protection of diverse native crops, EOSA contributes to the preservation of Ethiopia's rich agricultural heritage and the promotion of sustainable farming practices.

Through its multifaceted initiatives, EOSA remains committed to supporting local communities, empowering farmers, and advocating for the importance of agro-biodiversity in building resilient and sustainable food systems.
